This is what we are doing in October on our farm in central Portugal.

Planting seeds into seed trays

Lettuces & all brassicas

Transplanting into the ground

– Brascaccas: Brussel sprouts, Romanesco Broccoli, Cauliflower, Collard Greens (tronchuda) + all brassicas

– Leafy Greens: Kales, Lettuce, Chard & Spinach

– Winter onions

– Direct sowing seeds: Radish, Carrots, Turnips, Broad beans, Rocket & Corriander

Other garden tasks

Tree planting

Cover crops: Clover, Field beans, Vetch & Lupins

Grains: Oats, Rye and Perrenial Rye

Fertilising trees and perennials with compost

Propagating perennials, taking cuttings and planting some seeds
