March in the garden and farm

What to do in the garden in March. The time to plant summer vegetables is coming very soon, so we are ensuring we have everything ready to plant our summer vegetables and crops.

1. Planting seeds in the greenhouse

  • Don’t forget to plant a succession of fast-growing vegetables such as beets and lettuce. Better to plant a few each month and so many at once and then you don’t know what to do with them
  • It’s hard to list everything you should plant as you now seed every vegetable you want to plant in your garden for the summer. So think of what you want to grow in early summer and plant those seeds now!

3. Planting seedlings out

From March, it is warming up, and I would be getting out a little bit of every vegetable that can survive a bit of frost so you can have an early harvest. I also plant brassicas, although the seed packets say to wait until autumn, I find I can get a crop if planted out between March and May
