Join us for one week to learn how to improve soil in a small garden, a homestead or farm scale. We will look at various methods for growing food in a way that improves soil so that you can get a bigger yield each year and not be reliant on supermarkets, supply chains and chemical fertalisers.
We often read in the news about possible food crisis due to lack of fertalisers, increasing petrol costs, lack of farmers and AI related issues. The answe to these problems is to grow our own food while improving the fertility of the soil. It sounds simple enough but it isnt easy for commercial farms to adapt. At Keela we grow food every year which takes from the soil but we knoe through our soil tests that we are also imprving the soil.
Even when we gety food from the supermarket, it has low nutritional value famers dont ened to make sure all the minerals are in the soil, that costs money. They just need to grow as much as possible as cheaply as possible. Wegrow food that is nutrient dence this is by making sure all of the minerals are availile in the soil.
At Keela we have our two week permaculture design course (PDC) which gives you an overview of all things prmaculture and sustainble living. The PDC also gives you opportunity to design a garden, farm or buisness of your own during the course. But during the PDC we cant go so deep on each topic. so we have various one week specialist courses that you can attend.
No expereince is needed to join a specialist course and you font have to do the PDC.
You can join the specialist course alone or get a €150 discount if you take both as every specialist course is preceeded by a PDC
