A real salad from the garden

Being creative with salads and using all the edible leaves around, either cultivated or wild ensures we have a delicious varied salad each day and the more types of leaves you use, the more nutrients and minerals you get into you, all of which help your body in different ways. Check out the greens we have availible today for our daily salads.

Sweet Potato leaves are great in salads as well as great cooked up in a soup or side dish. Grown from cutting.

Sorrel really makes the salad and it is everywhere. wild green:

Plantain is used occasionally as we don’t have that much so i hope it spreads. wild green.

New zealand spinach, we have this growing around many of our trees. grown from seed

Nasturtium flowers and leaves are in our salads. Grown from seed

Boring old lettuce is also included, we usually have a few varieties from from seed

Clover is a nice bucket filler as it grows so easily from seed

Broccoli leaves are great, we harvested the flower months ago but we have around 30 plants providing us with wonderful leaves which are great in the salads. Grown from seed.

Herb spiral includes two types of basil, chives, marigold, mints, fennel, oregano, rosemary and tarragon

The Herb bed is another central place with herbs right byu the kitchen, we central herbs in two areas as due to the different microclimates allowing different herbs to thrive. Centralising herbs in beds and spirals also make it quick and easy to find, leaving the herbs in he food forest to establish.
