Rivers and Lakes to swim near Fundao and Penamacore

Please find a list of places to go for a swim and cool in he hot summers when visiting Keela Permaculture Farm, which is located between Fundao and Castelo Branco

• Keela Permaculture Plunge Pool – Small old pig pen converted into a plunge pool
• Keela Permaculture Barragem – Small lake by the barn that was dug in the way of a stream
• Keela Permaculture Waterfall – Only runs in the winter at the bottom of the land
• Keela Permaculture Bonnie Lake – Near the barrage, and is filled by a spring
• Keela Permaculture New Lake – In the reforestation field, and was dug in 2017 and is fed by a spring
• Bore hole shower – An outside shower with ice-cold water under pressure from the bore hole

1. Praia Fluvial de Capinha

This is a Dam reservoir. Upon arrival, I prefer to cross the bridge and walk along the path to the right to avoid crowds and find a secluded beach with some shade.

2. Praia Fluvial De Castelo Novo

This is a river that has some dams to make swimming pools, it has a cafe and can get busy

3. Barragem Santa Águeda (marateca)

A huge lake with many spots to choose from around it.

4. Praia fluvial do Pego em Penha Garcia

A waterfall that requires a short hike to reach. There is also a big lake nearby and Monsanto Mountain. Great to do when visiting Monsanto Mountain

5. Meimoa Fluvial Beach

This is a river with dams that create swimming pools, a cafe, lots of shade, and lovely green grass. This is my preferred place.

6. Praia Fluvial da Albufeira Marechal Carmona (Boom Lake Idiana a Nova)

This is where the famous Boom Festival is. a large lake with many spots, including one with a cafe.

7. Praia Fluvial do Meimão

A very large dam, huge with trees surrounding it. a cafe and resturant so you can also grab some basic food there

8. Poço do Inferno (Waterfall in Serra De Estrella Mountain)

Combine with a great hike and a more natural feel, worth the drive
