Permaculture In practice Course (PIP)
Welcome to the Permaculture in Practice Course in Portugal, Europe. This is an ideal course for individuals seeking to develop practical homesteading skills, connect with nature, their food and deepen their knowledge in permaculture.
Permaculture in Practical course Portugal
This is course is made for people that either have their own homestead, want to start a homestead or permaculture farm one day or for people that have completed a PDC and want to dive deeper into the practical elements in permaculture.
You will work on different farm elements each day and practical more techincial aspects of the practical work than you would do in PDC which tends to have larger groups.
If you have not done a PDC (Permaculture Design Course), you can join our PDC together with this course.
What is covered in this homesteading course?
Composting like a pro - Deep dive into worm farming, making homemade fertalisers and compost
Processing chickens (or and lambs) - Slaughter, gut and butcher (you can watch, get involved or work in the garden that day / join an alternative workshop that day
Foraging for wild greens and making home made tinctures and medicine
Food processing workshops such as making Ferments, Kombutcha and Jam
Food forests and tree management - Pruning, irrigation planting and fertilizing
Propagation such as grafting and managing a tree nursary
Managing a market vegetable garden and gardening

Experince living on an established homestead and permaculture farm
Consultations to help you with your future plans and goles
Food provided for three healthy meals per day
Daily yoga or calisthenics classes
Communal living
Permaculture in Practice Course Dates
All our Permaculture in Practice (PIP) courses start 3 days after our Permaculture Design Courses (PDCs) and sometimes have a Natural building course that follows. This means you can join the PDC and/or the Natural Building course and the PIP in one trip. However, you are also welcome to join the permaculture practice course on its own.
August 2025 PIP
- 3rd-9th August 2025 : 1 week PIP
- Join this alone or in combination with the Natural Building Course before it for a €150 discount.

October 2025 PIP
- 10th-16th October 2025 : 1 week PIP

- 20-26th November 2025 : 1 week Food Forest Course

March 2026 : Winter
- 22nd Feb – 7th March 2026 – 2 week PDC (€950)

Although our PDCs are also quite practical, we move through many different daily topics. This practical post-PDC course is to give you more time on different aspects of permaculture and gardening to both learn more skills and improve your skills on what you have ben introduced to on the PDC: You will get your hands dirty.
